All Day Story Building Workshop
For Years 5-6
Creativity - Literacy - Oracy - Performance

Framed by puppets and stories from the show 'Grow!', this is a thrilling day of exploration and creativity.

Packed with fun, games and activities, the workshop delivers skills and techniques, enabling pupils to create and develop their own stories.

Each stage of the process is supported by a story from 'Grow!'
First as a large group, then using Story Building Kits in smaller teams, participants are inspired to outline the 'skeleton' of their story, place 'flesh' on its bones and finally build detail into their narrative.

The latter part of the day is spent working on the presentation of the stories, as the teams read and perform their work to the rest of the class.

COLLABORATION - IMAGINATION

The workshop is designed to be delivered to a maximum of 30 pupils
.

A Welsh Heritage Schools Initiative Award
and
Joint Winner of the Best Primary Project in Wales 2019
Awarded by St Fagans National Museum

The class researched the Senghenydd Mining Disaster of 1913
the worst loss of life in UK mining history.
Exploring their findings through dance, movement, music, poetry,
improvisation, art, theatre, film and photography,
the students wrote and performed a presentation
reflecting the stories of those who lived and lost their lives in the disaster.
Some of the pupils were descendants of the families who suffered in 1913.
The performance was filmed as an educational resource for
The Senghenydd Memorial Museum
